A Finger Pointing at the Moon is Not the Moon
The stories, myths and metaphors created by human beings to point ourselves towards an understanding of our own creation are only reminders that we can find peace in our lives. Christ was pointing at the moon. Buddha was pointing at the moon. The moon in this case is the awareness of the intelligence that created us. This intelligence is most commonly called God.
Every piece of matter that exists contains within itself, atoms of the original creation. Each atom is a universe unto itself and all life is composed of this energy, arranged in a manner that allows us to walk, talk, think and feel. The composition is determined by an intelligence that exists within us. This creative intelligence within us is God.
Western religion has chosen to dis-empower its followers by suggesting that this God essence is external, that there is a Heaven that can only be obtained by right living and at the end of life. This suggestion creates a feeling that life here on Earth is not Heaven. That as individual we are not connected to the life force. Separation of the individual from the very planet that sustains it has led humankind to mistreat the Earth and the other creatures, including the other human beings they share this planet with.
Christ was trying to show us the way to recognize God and the Kingdom of Heaven that exists right here and right now, within each and everyone of us and on this beautiful planet on which we live. What stands between such recognition and humanity as it exists today are the aspects of human beings that have directly contributed to our successful replication and which will one day destroy us. These are the aspects of the ego; greed, lust, envy, anger, that cause our suffering.
Religions by themselves cannot bring awareness. They can only serve to remind you to continue to seek awareness. They need not be taken literally. The image of Christ dying on the cross should not itself be the object of worship because Christ was only a teacher. Christ is the finger showing us the way. The way into Heaven is within each of us now. Our Earth is Heaven and we are already here.

Well actually I just got so tired of reading so many books and theories about all of this. I decided to actually read the holy books of the religions. The Bible clearly says that Christ died on the cross to save man kind from death. Wether you believe it or not - thats what it says. All religions are very spiritual and talk about eternal life. I agree with you we should live life fully whilst we are here.
Christ said that he came so that we may live more fully and if we believe in him we will be resurrected from the dead when the time comes. He said that it is only through him that we can find the way to God. This is where you actually need to start reading the actual books and you will see that the story enfolds to an epic tale. The Bible says that when we die we are dead for ever and only those that believe in Christ will be resurrected, this goes without saying that the Christians will be judged according to how they lived - whether they loved their neighbor, forgive others, do not gossip etc According to what he teached but only for those that accept him as the Saviour. He also said that he does only what God wants and not what he wants.
Christ says he is the way, the light and the truth. Out of all the other books he is the only one that rose from the dead and stayed with the apostles for 40 days to teach them about receiving the holy spirit and living in the holy spirit.
Religion is a world full of spirits. And I agree our earth is absolutely stunning. I love being here and I’m happy to be part of it.
